General Article Submission Guidelines

Different sites will allow you to submit articles that you have authored on their sites. The webmasters of these sites will have differing article submission guidelines specific to their site’s requirements but there are general guidelines that you can follow especially if you are new at this.

First off, in general, if you want to maximize the publication of your article, make sure that the article talks about a topic that is relevant, interesting and is rich in the necessary keywords. This will improve your chances of having the article published.

How do you know that the article is relevant at all? Again, each website will have their own niche topics that they advocate. The article, therefore, must talk on topics that will be interesting to their niche readers. Some websites may have a variety of topics that they advocate and their article submission guidelines or rules may include a categorized list of these topics. A very important point to remember is that a majority, if not all, these sites will require you to submit only original articles. Plagiarism is never tolerated. In fact, normally, these sites will input your article or articles in plagiarism detection software to be sure of its originality. Copy infringements normally mean an automatic rejection of the submission and closing of your author account with them. Most sites will also require that the article be educational and informative and not mere promotional in nature.

Sometimes, there are also guidelines on the structure of the article. Some sites will only accept articles within a certain word length minimum and maximum range. Grammatical or spelling errors are not tolerated. Some sites, however, may allow resubmission of the article with corrections (some for a maximum of only 2 resubmissions). Some other technical guidelines may be included – such as not using images, specific formatting, article title requirements and formats, descriptions, keyword guidelines (number of times keywords must appear, either a minimum or a maximum number; variations on the keywords; locations of the keywords in the article).

Note that article submission services do not automatically mean acceptance, approval, or an agreement to publish the article. Normally, multiple submissions of the same article using different titles or with slight changes on the article are not allowed. Some sites are also very specific about disallowing offensive content.

In most of the sites, if not all, copyright on the article remains with you and you will be acknowledged as the author in any publications made on the article. Related to this, article submission sites will require you to submit a short autobiography so that you may be properly acknowledged. This is probably the best place to include the links to your site. Some sites will allow certain links to be added to the article or in the autobiography such as source or resource links but only on a limited basis (normally a maximum of 3 links).

Some article submission guidelines and requirements are a bit more complicated. You have the option, however, to simplify this by hiring article submission services.
